Frequently asked questions

What is rumba?

Born in Kinshasa in the 1960s, rumba fuses Congolese percussion, likembe, brass and Latin guitar. Its signature: interlocking ngoma polyrhythms, blazing brass and a melodic cavaquinho lead. Its modern offshoots — soukous, ndombolo, rumba-electro — keep reinventing the Kinshasa sound, typically between 95 and 130 BPM.

How does the generation work?

RumbaMi runs on its own generation engine, RumbaMi V1, tuned 100% for rumba and its styles. You describe, the AI composes two full versions with cover art.

Can I use my tracks commercially?

Yes, on the Pro and Unlimited plans, which include a commercial licence. The licence is fixed when the track is generated: moving to a smaller plan later does not remove the rights on tracks you already made.

Can I remix my own voice or an existing song?

Yes: the Remix tab accepts MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or FLAC files (8 minutes max). Only upload content you own the rights to.

Which languages can the vocals sing in?

English, Congolese pidgin, and the languages at the heart of the genre: Lingála, Kikongo, Tshiluba, Swahili… plus French. Just mention the language you want in your description or lyrics.

Does RumbaMi work on my phone?

Yes. RumbaMi works in your phone's browser, and you can add it to your home screen to open it like an app.
